‘Cash Me Outside’ Girl Pleads Guilty to Grand Theft, Could Face Prison
The “Cash Me Outside” girl, Danielle Bregoli Peskowitz, pleaded guilty to several charges this week and might be going to jail. More likely, she’ll just get richer and more famous and never have to face a consequence for anything.
Bregoli became famous when her mother took her on Dr. Phil, ostensibly to figure out how to get her under control. The then-13-year-old was reportedly stealing cars, doing drugs, and assaulting people. Dr. Phil said he’d help, but the TV appearance just made Bregoli rich and famous, and now she is worse than ever.
Bregoli needed consequences and accountability, which it does not look like her mother ever provided. The only result of the Dr. Phil show is that Bregoli became an Internet meme for saying “Cash Me Outside,” and now she has licensing deals, appearance fees, and a TV show in the works. Rumor has it she’s even working on an album.
Being the “Cash Me Outside” girl is very profitable for her. Now she still gets in fights, doesn’t listen to her mother or other authority figures, and the worse she acts the more attention and money she gets. She still faces no consequences for anything.
Bregoli’s mother seems mostly responsible for all of this, because it was her job to raise her daughter with consequences and teach her how to be a decent human being. Instead, Bregoli’s mom seems to have said, “Maybe now we can get on TV!”
This week Bregoli pleaded guilty to several charges related to things she did before the Dr. Phil appearance. The charges include grand theft, marijuana possession, and filing a false police report. She will be sentenced next month, and the maximum sentence she faces is three years in jail.
The “Grand Theft Auto” charge makes it sound like Bregoli was off stealing Ferraris, but according to Metro.co.uk, the 13-year-old Bregoli actually just took her mother’s car.
This whole thing is just weird and gross. Taking your mom’s car is wrong, especially if you are way too young to drive. But it usually results in being grounded, not being charged with grand theft auto and hauled onto Dr. Phil to star in an episode called, “I want to give up on my car-stealing, knife-wielding, twerking 13-year-old daughter who tried to frame me for a crime.”
Bregoli’s mom really seems like a wannabe-Kris-Jenner just waiting for the moment she can make her rude, violent daughter internet famous.
The “false police report” involved calling the police to say her mother was doing heroin. Bregoli is still facing charges for a separate battery incident.
Bregoli is rich and famous and pretty and white, so a betting person would probably not put money on her seeing the inside of a jail cell, at least not for a few more years. If anything, this will probably just make her richer. (The 14-year-old bought a Porsche last week, so her mom is probably pretty glad she took her keys.)
Bregoli and her mother have moved to Hollywood to take advantage of Bregoli’s fame. Bregoli’s estranged father, Ira Peskowitz, opposed the move and has been campaigning to get custody of her. He has accused Bregoli’s mother of exploiting her for fame and money.
