Bugaboo Issues Recall On The New Version Of The Stroller That They Already Recalled

bugaboo cameleon3Another day, another Bugaboo recall. It was only back in January that the fancy stroller retailer issued a recall of more than 40,000 strollers. The company specifically recalled such pricey units as the Bugaboo Donkey and the Bugaboo Cameleon. But now “the 3rd generation of this iconic stroller,” to quote Bugaboo’s website, is also being recalled: the Cameleon3.

Like the first unit that was recalled, the Bugaboo Cameleon3 has also been demonstrating a fall hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The company is reportedly recalling over 9,000 units in the United States and just under 1,000 in Canada.  No injuries have been reported but Bugaboo is handling 16 instances of carry handles breaking:

The stroller has an aluminum and plastic frame with rubberized wheels, a removable seat and bassinet, a removable ”U”-shaped carry handle, an under-the-seat storage bag and a sun canopy. The bassinet, seat and sun canopy come in a variety of colors. The removable carry handle is used to transport the bassinet or seat separately from the chassis. The words ”Bugaboo” and ”Cameleon3” appear on a fabric tag on the side of the sun canopy. Strollers included in the recall have serial numbers from 19010 11153 00001 to 19010 51248 00215. Serial numbers are printed on a horizontal bar of the stroller’s chassis beneath the seat.

Should you have this newer version of the same faulty model in your home, you’re expressly advised to do the following:

Consumers should immediately remove the carry handle from the stroller’s bassinet or seat and contact Bugaboo for a free replacement handle. While awaiting the replacement handle, consumers can continue to use the seat or bassinet when attached to the chassis but should not attempt to use the seat or bassinet separate from the chassis.

Consumers should stop using this product unless otherwise instructed.

That and maybe look into a new brand of stroller that doesn’t reissue new “generations” of the same janky unit. This is the company’s third recall in two years. To quote the Bugaboo Cameleon3 tagline, “the iconic stroller. even better” ? More like just as bad.
