Brave Toddler Defends Mom Against Savage Beating While Useless Onlookers Do Nothing

Cops in Salem New Jersey are still on the look out for a monstrous woman who was caught on video beating a mother in front of her toddler. The brave child tried in vain to intervene and help his mom while bystanders stood by useless or filmed the incident. The suspect, Latia Harris, can be seen thrashing and kicking the mom, and can be heard threatening the woman’s 2-year-old son who was kicking at Harris’ legs to get her to stop. Seriously, there were numerous other people there, and somehow the only person with enough stones to do anything but fumble with their phones was a freaking 2-year-old! From Fox News:

“You better get your son before I kick him in the f—ing face, too,” Harris allegedly yells in the video. A group of people formed around the attack, but only the son protected his mom.”

I’ve heard of the bystander effect, but this is ridiculous. Pure cowardliness. Police Chied John Pelura III spoke with The South Jersey Times and says that the video is “sickening to watch.”

According to Pelura, the victim was found disoriented and bloody, and the attack was allegedly over supposed rumors about Harris and another person.

Pelura went on to say:

“There is a moral and social breakdown in the fabric of our society which is clearly evident when a woman gets pummeled in broad daylight in front of her child while a dozen people pull out their phones to record the incident instead of calling for help,” Pelura told the paper. “There is so little regard for human life ”” by the actor and the bystanders.”

What kills me here is that not only did no one step in and help, but no one even had the decency to call for the police. I can almost understand not wanting to step in physically. Personally, I’m not a tough woman and I would probably have been terrified. But someone could have at least tried to pull the boy away, and call 911. What the hell was going through these people’s minds? So kudos to that brave, heroic toddler for having the courage to do what a group of spineless, cowardly adults did not. I hope they are all very proud of themselves.
