Latest Celebrity Baby Names Prove There’s Still Such Thing As Originality
Actress-slash-model Molly Sims and hubs Scott Stuber have finally revealed the name of their baby boy one week after becoming first-time parents. Like most parents-to-be, the couple had a hard time narrowing it down; Stuber wanted to wait ’til they got to meet the little guy to decide, while Sims insisted on a shortlist (Asher, Quinn and Ford were up there on the list). In the end, they settled on… drum roll, please… Brooks.
Cute, right? I personally don’t know any little baby Brooks out there, which isn’t to say they don’t exist, but it’s one of those names that’s unusual yet not unheard of. (I can’t help but think of Mel Brooks for some reason). It sounds kind of nickname-y to me, which is cute.
Last month, a pregnant Sims told Celebrity Baby Scoop: “For my husband the name has to have three criteria: how will it sound over a loud speaker if they’re announcing him at a sports arena, will he be made fun of in fifth grade, and does it have any meaning? Those are his three rules.” Looks like they followed the rules, though I’m not sure yet of its meaning.
Meanwhile, I’ve been busy obsessing over Lily Aldridge‘s choice of name. The Victoria’s Secret model and husband/King of Leon frontman Caleb Followill welcome their first child a girl late last week. They named her Dixie Pearl. Honestly, I think it’s a pretty awesome choice. It reminds me a bit of Roxy but with more of a rock ‘n’ roll bent. Again, major points for originality. (How many Dixies do you know?)
