Dylan Lipton-Lesser is just 2-years-old and has had a rough start to life. He was born over two months early and forced to stay in the NICU for over 100 days due to bleeding in the brain and gastrointestinal issues that threatened his life. In addition to these concerns, Dylan had hearing troubles when he was born. At a year old he needed to wear hearing aids and had never heard either of his mothers, India Lipton or Shirley Lesser, clearly. That is, before recently when his hearing aids were refitted and upgraded to work better.

The results are amazing and adorable. After two years of worry and heartache, hearing Dylan’s uncontrollable laughter at the sound of their voices was a welcome relief. According to Lipton:

”He was laughing at just being able to hear his own laughter [and] hearing our voices. [They] gave us the gloom and doom story. Shirley and I said ”˜Okay, you know what? We are going to bring Dylan back here in two years and he’s going thank you for saving his life.’”

For the most part, Lipton’s prediction was spot on and Dylan’s doctors are stunned with his progress. While he does have some developmental delays, he has been able to live a relatively normal and happy life and has even developed an interest in the piano now that his hearing devices work better.
