Anne Boleyn was detained in the Tower of London on several false charges brought against her by her husband. He accused her of adultery and incest, believing that the deformities of their stillborn son were due to inbreeding. She was also accused of conspiracy against the King and witchcraft. It is believed that Thomas Cromwell was instrumental in plotting her downfall. He was Chief Minister to King Henry and Anne’s former friend.
