Angelina Jolie Says She’ll Quit Acting To Take Care Of Her Growing Brood & Continue Saving The World

angelina jolieWe all better really enjoy Maleficent, because it sounds like Angelina Jolie won’t have too many big, starring turns after her latest blockbuster comes out. The actress and mom of six has decided that, like her hubby, she’ll be done acting in a couple years.

Last year, Brad Pitt told interviewers that he’ll be done acting once he hits 50. He doesn’t want to retire from the entertainment industry completely. He just wants to take a more behind-the-camera role for the sake of his extremely beautiful and frequently stalked family.

Now, his soon-to-be wife is making similar statements, leaving the world to ponder what Hollywood would look like without it’s most famous and genetically-gifted couple snatching up all the really awesome lead roles. Angelina Jolie told England’s Channel 4 News, ”I think I’m going to have to give up the acting as the kids hit the teenage years”¦ [there will be] too much to manage at home.”

Honestly, six kids going through the teen and tween years sounds pretty insane to me as well. I can completely understand Jolie’s thought process. Between school projects, soccer teams, choir practices, and every other extra-curricular under the sun that this broad is probably amazing at, there’s no doubt Jolie will have her hands full.

But later in the interview, she mentioned a little something else that leads me to believe Angelina won’t just be driving a mini-van around and helping make paper mache volcanoes. She said that while she loves acting, “…if it went away tomorrow I would be very happy to be home with the children. I wake up in the morning as a mom and I turn on the news like everybody else and I see what’s happening and I want to be part of the world in a positive way.”

Jolie might retire from acting, but I doubt she’ll slow down on her incredible humanitarian efforts that have taken her all over the world and given her a position as UN ambassador. My guess is that Jolie will still have a career, it will just be completely focused on making the world a better place. Which is pretty awesome.

There’s one thing that I can’t help thinking when I read this news though. If Angelina Jolie turned on the news this morning, how annoyed do you think she was that her personal decision to stop making movies got more coverage than any international incident deserving of our attention and concern? Do you think she’s mad at us all right now?

We’re sorry Angelina. Let’s all head to a local soup kitchen or parks and rec center for some volunteer work penance.
