Andrea Nicole Baber, Teacher, Accused of Raping a Student

A 29-year old teacher in Oregon has been arrested and charged for numerous sex crimes, after authorities allege she raped one of her students. Andrea Nicole Baber was taken into custody last week. Officials say she began a sexual relationship with a 15-year old student in 2016. When the hell are they going to learn that this isn’t ok?

The charges against Andrea Nicole Baber include third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy, contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor, and online sexual corruption of a minor in the first degree.

Baber taught literature, writing, and speech at Logos Christian Academy in Springfield, OR. In 2016, authorities say she entered into a sexual relationship with a student who was 15 at the time. They were notified of the relationship when the victim’s parents received an anonymous email containing sexually explicit images of Baber and their minor son in bed together. The father then went to authorities.

The victim said he and Baber began a flirtatious relationship that evolved into sex. He told authorities that he and Baber had been having sex one to two times a week at her home.

Apparently, Baber’s husband was one of the people who tipped off authorities. He found his wife in bed with the victim and discovered partially nude photos she’d sent. Baber’s husband then notified child protective services.

In addition to raping the victim, Baber also supplied him with marijuana, which led to the additional drug charges.

Incidentally, in an almost-funny twist, Baber returned home after authorities had conducted a search on her property. After discovering her house in disarray, she called to report a burglary. Authorities arrested Baber later that same day.

Baber is no longer employed by Logos Academy, and her bio has been removed from the school’s website (it apparently referenced her being called to work with youth). She has been released from jail, and is due back in court on March 12.
