Because Aishwarya failed to emerge from her pregnancy looking like a softly airbrushed Victoria Beckham, her fans — if you can even call them that — attacked the new mother online, some proclaiming it her “duty” to get svelte. Despite the backlash, Aishwarya apparently isn’t taking those slings at her body to heart as she walked the red carpet in Cannes — a place that is currently hosting a wealth of conventionally skinny starlets.

Aishwarya attended the AmfAR Cinema Against Aids in this elegant gold embroidered sari, stepping before those flashing bulbs with poise. Her head up high, her hair piled up top, the Bride and Prejudice actress appears to have not shied away from the cameras despite whatever animals some people in the corners of the Internet are likening her to.
