New Mom Adele Is Not Losing Weight Unless It Affects Her Sex Life – So There

It is so refreshing to have someone stand up to critics and be happy with themselves.  I’m talking about Adele, and her refusal to fall into the weight-apology trap that so many other famous new moms find themselves in.

Adele: The Biography hit shelves this week, and in it the star discusses her complete contentedness with her size. From USA Today:

“I read a comment on YouTube that I thought would upset me ‘Test pilot for pies’ ”” but I’ve always been a size 14-16 and been fine with it. I would only lose weight if it affected my health or sex life, which it doesn’t.”

Well, I say Bravo! I’m so sick of the public looking right past the accomplishments of women – to the size of their jeans. And I love the fact that she brings her sex life into it, reminding us all that curves are sexy and desirable. Who cares if she is a size 14-16? Size 14 is the most common size worn by women here in America and abroad in Adele’s native England. There is nothing strange, unusual or newsworthy about her body weight.

She’s won eight Grammy Awards and been nominated for and received countless other impressive accolades. She just gave birth to a healthy baby boy and looks to be really in love. Still people feel the need to attack her for her weight. Lady Gaga was recently quoted as saying, “Adele is bigger than me – how come nobody says anything about it?” Nice, Gaga. Real nice. They actually do – Adele just doesn’t give a shit. That is why she is my personal hero.

I have yet to read a single article about her “baby weight” – and for that I am thankful. Maybe it’s because no one makes as big of a deal about losing excess baby pounds when they already perceive you as “overweight.” Maybe it’s because she is not pandering to her critics and being snapped exiting the gym everyday. Whatever the reason, I am happy for the example that Adele is setting for women everywhere. You don’t have to be a size zero to be happy, healthy, and in love.

Congrats on your new baby, and your fantastic sex life, Adele. This mom thinks you look great.
