Adele Skypes Elton John For Parenting Tips
Apparently, Adele wants some tips about raising a baby in the limelight. Â At first I thought Sir Elton would probably make some flippant recommendation about security guards and nannies. Â But it turns out that the mega-star is pretty down to earth. Â In an interview he gave to Barbara Walters last year, he said:
“We have one nanny. And we’re very hands-on. And we take him to lunch. The worst thing you can do to a child, and I’ve seen it happen so many times, is the silver spoon. Being the child of a famous person is very difficult, and we’re very well aware of the pitfalls of that,” Elton adds.
They have one nanny and they take him to lunch! Â Crazy. Â I would think that one child would definitely require a team of caregivers. Â And they take him to lunch. Â But no silver spoons. Â Silver spoons are bad. Â I’m joking around. Â He is obviously someone that people love as evidenced by the fact that he is the chosen Godfather-to-the-stars. Â He is Godfather to Yoko Ono and John Lennon’s son Sean, Liz Hurley’s son Damian, and Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham. Turns out the superstar is a pretty obvious choice to espouse some parental wisdom.
Just don’t forget that there are less obvious sources for advice, Adele. Â My personal favorite is following strangers at the mall who have patient, well-behaved children. Â I study their interactions for clues. Â But it would probably be hard for you to anonymously follow anyone. Â And come to think of it – when is the last time you’ve seen the inside of a mall? Accosting nannies at the park wouldn’t really work either, as they might sell a story to the Daily Mail about what a confused new mum you are.
I guess celebrity advice-swapping makes sense after all.
