Here’s A Beautiful Video That Will Make Your Day. You’re Welcome

Screen Shot 2013-06-30 at 10.43.09 AMThe Internet is a horrible place packed with bad news. That’s why I get really excited when I see something that fills my heart with joy.

CBC Music arranged for a private concert for 101-year-old grandmother Dorothy Landry to listen to her favorite performer. It turns out her favorite performer is  5-year-old piano prodigy, Ryan Wang. The interaction between these two is pure beauty. Before I go on, here it is:

You’re probably crying now, and for that I’m sorry. But I’m pretty sure you’ve just witnessed two souls who have spent time together in many lives being reunited again. Also, this child is five. He’s only a little over two years older than my child who still licks the floor and tries to put his entire fist in his mouth. So far, his claim to fame is singing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Are children just born with this talent, or do his parents lock him in a room and make him practice 14 hours a day? I’m speechless.

The way Ryan and Dorothy connect with each other is out-of-this-world. They both seem so genuinely touched and appreciative to be in each other’s presence. It’s really hard for me to put it into words – it’s just special. It makes me believe that we are just innately and inexplicably connected to some people. Maybe I’m just one of those people that believes in magical things like this. I showed the video to my husband this morning. I said, “Look at the little boy! He’s weeping! Isn’t that beautiful?” He replied, “He’s clearly terrified of that old lady.”

What? I stand by my assertion. These two are amazing.
