A couple used chemistry to do their reveal
The Burkes did a pretty cool experiment right in their backyard, where they made a bunch of colored foam to reveal that their child is a boy. The popular science experiment requires potassium iodide, liquid hydrogen peroxide, dish washing liquid, and food coloring. And if you’re wondering exactly how it works, the potassium iodide acts as a catalyst to break apart the hydrogen peroxide molecules, turning it into water and oxygen. The extra oxygen gets caught up in the soap, which helps to create the foamy substance (or “elephant toothpaste”).
