Poor Prince William Really Missed His Mother On His Big Royal Wedding Day

William and Kate attend Film PremierFollowing the year anniversary of his nuptials, Prince William seems to be opening up more and more about his big day. From his pre-wedding nerves to his prompt disposal of the original guest list, details about the internationally televised event keep bubbling up. But in a new sit-down interview with Katie Couric, the prince let out a big one that perhaps many were wondering as he greeted wife Kate Middleton on the aisle.

In the interview, which is scheduled to air tonight at 9 pm EST, Prince William confesses that the wedding day was “difficult” without his mother Princess Diana. The eldest son reportedly told Katie:

“I sort of prepared myself beforehand so that I was sort of mentally prepared,” he said. “I didn’t want any wobbly lips or anything going on,” Prince William told Couric. “I think she would have loved the day and I think, hopefully, she’d be very proud of us both for the day.  I’m just very sad that she’s never going to get a chance to meet Kate.”

Prince Henry, who admitted that he was quite nervous what with all the press, offered the following heartwarming comment:

“I think she had the best seat in the house probably,” Harry said. “She would have loved to have been there.”

Wobbly lips or not, Prince William’s prime time confession confirms what many have been speculating ever since the royal family announced his engagement. That despite the presence of many, the new focus on Kate Middleton, and the joyous celebration of their union, the absence of Princess Diana was prominently felt.
