State Health Department Dismisses Complaints Against Lenox Hill Regarding Beyonce Birth

Beyonce pregnantWell that was awful speedy. Just yesterday, it was reported that the State Health Department was looking into two complaints made against Lenox Hill Hospital. After media reports surfaced that Beyonce‘s practically presidential security prevented multiple families from seeing their children — and don’t forget the father who couldn’t get to his twins in the NICU — agents at the department said that they were investigating. But that very same day, state health officials dismissed these formal complaints.

Associated Press writes that the department received one complaint anonymously and another from “someone who had learned about the matter through the media.” A spokesperson told AP that officials did indeed review the complaints and officially dismissed them yesterday evening — and the agency won’t reveal why exactly.

But the hospital’s executive director is still actively interviewing parents whose children were born the night Blue Ivy arrived to ensure that there was no wrongdoing. A spokesperson for Lenox Hill told AP that so far, they have interviewed seven out of the 10 parents and none have said that they were prevented from seeing their babies. Said spokesperson did confirm that those security cameras were covered, but only while the Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Blue were being moved about the hospital.

She refused to comment on why the cameras were being covered in the first place. [tagbox tag=”beyonce”]

Now even New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has stepped in to comment on the situation, saying that although he doesn’t know the details, private hospitals are entitled to rent out executive suites to patients. He maintains that as long other patients are being cared for, he doesn’t find Beyonce’s private security team to be  “a bad thing.”

Considering that quite a few publications, including The New York Times, collected quotes from parents who said that they couldn’t access their babies and/or other family members, somebody better start fact-checking.
