Judge William Adams Abuses Disabled Daughter And Sees Nothing Wrong With It

A graphic video of a Texas judge beating his disabled daughter has gone viral and, man, is it ever horrid. I watched it last night and am still disgusted and in complete shock. The video shows Judge William Adams cursing at his teenage daughter and using a belt to whip her while she cries and screams and pleads for him to stop. It is absolutely sickening.

Adams’ wife appears in the video as well, and she tells her daughter, “Turn over like a 16-year-old and take it, like a grown woman!”

The daughter’s name is Hillary Adams, and she’s the one who recorded and uploaded the video on YouTube. Her third-person summary of the video which she actually recorded back in 2004 is this:

2004: Arkansas County Court-At-Law Judge William Adams took a belt to his own teenage daughter as punishment for using the internet to acquire music and games that were unavailable for legal purchase at the time. She has had ataxic cerebral palsy from birth that led her to a passion for technology, which was strictly forbidden by her father’s backwards views. The judge’s wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video. The judge’s wife has since left the marriage due to the abuse, which continues to this day, and has sincerely apologized and repented for her part and for allowing such a thing, long before this video was even revealed to exist. Judge William Adams is not fit to be anywhere near the law system if he can’t even exercise fit judgement as a parent himself. Do not allow this man to ever be re-elected again. His “judgement” is a giant farce. Signed, Hillary Adams, his daughter.

Hilary, 23, posted the video on October 27 and it has since received international attention thanks to Reddit, a popular link-sharing site.

While people are outraged as they should be there are those who see nothing wrong with Adams’ actions. In fact, many people have commented on a range of websites that they, too, were spanked as children and that they’ve turned out just fine.

But this is so much more than mere spanking. Adams is in a fit of rage. He is verbally and physically abusive to his daughter who has ataxic cerebral palsy and he seems to get off on hurting her. Really, there are no words to describe it. This man does not deserve to be a parent, if you ask me. He deserves to lose his job and spend his life suffering. Harsh, I know, but I don’t understand how anyone could watch this video and not feel that way.

Even worse is the fact that Adams shows no remorse about the incident. He told local TV station KRIS, “It happened years ago… I apologized” (as if that makes it okay). He also said, “It’s not as bad as it looks on tape” and that “more will come out” during the probe (an investigation is now underway). Oh, and then there’s this nugget: “I really don’t want to get into this right now because as you can see my life’s been made very difficult over this child.”

But here’s the thing: No matter what Hillary may have done to upset her father, she did not deserve to be beat up like this. A parent’s role is to protect his children, not abuse them. And, again, there’s no denying that that’s exactly what’s happened here. I’m just grateful that Hillary had the foresight to capture it on video.
